YDOC advocates for politicians and policies that work to simultaneously bring down the crushing costs of living and expand opportunities for households to get ahead in our economy. Such policies include:

  • Incentivizing the Construction of Affordable Housing 
  • Alleviating High Costs of Living in Orange County
  • Diversifying our Local Economy So It Works For Everyone   

Healthcare and Reproductive Rights

YDOC favors ensuring that everyone has access to affordable, effective healthcare and supports politicians who champion a vision where residents are healthy and free from medical debt. Policies that work to ensure this include:

  • Safeguarding Abortion Rights/Reproductive Justice
  • Expanding Access to Affordable, Effective Healthcare 
  • Expanding Mental Healthcare and Reducing Its Stigma

Climate Change + Environmental Protection

YDOC is committed to advocating for policies and candidates that protect the natural beauty of Florida while encouraging a more sustainable, climate-friendly future. Such policies include, but are not limited to:

Responsible Gun Ownership

The Young Democrats support policies and candidates that encourage responsible ownership of firearms, while also protecting our communities from senseless gun violence. Such policies include:

  • Comprehensive Background Checks and Licensure
  • Red Flag Laws to Curb Senseless, Preventable Violence
  • Firearm Buyback Programs

Social Justice

We back politicians and policies that ensure society is an equitable society for everyone, regardless of their background, identity, and sexual orientation. Such policies include:
